Aries: the sign of courage and new starts
Aries is a cardinal fire sign, ruled by Mars. Its core quality is initiative: it connects directly, with energy and candor, and speaks plainly and fast.
Aries Sun
Identity grows through initiative, courage, and being first to try. You may feel most alive when starting something.
Aries Moon
Feelings arrive fast and move fast. You may need room to react honestly, then let it go, and space to act rather than wait. A Aries Moon needs room to act on feelings quickly, and to be met with honesty.
Aries rising
You may meet the world directly and energetically, and come across as quick and brave.
Aries in love
Traditionally Venus is in detriment here: love is direct, eager, and spontaneous; you may like the chase.
Aries Mercury and Mars
You may think fast and speak directly, deciding quickly and saying it plainly. Mars rules this sign: action is quick and courageous; anger may flare and fade fast.
At its best and under strain
Mars rules Aries. At its best, Mars is brave, direct, willing to act. Under strain, it can be impatient, angry, or picking fights.
Aries in Vedic astrology
In the Vedic (sidereal) zodiac, the Moon in this rashi gives a mind (manas) that responds quickly and wants to act, with affection shown through energy and action. Its approach to life is meeting life head-on. Because the sidereal zodiac sits about 24° behind the tropical one, many people with a Aries Sun have a different Vedic Sun sign.
